Benson Accountants has continued its expansion in Scotland, driven by sustained growth in its Scottish client base and the strengthening of its Perth office team.

Founded in 2014 by Paul Benson, the Cumbria-based accountancy and business advisory firm has grown to a team of more than 40, supporting clients across a wide range of sectors including property, construction, retail, rural business and professional services.

The firm has built its reputation on helping owner-managed businesses grow, protect and pass on their wealth through proactive business and tax advice, with much of its growth driven by long-standing client relationships and word-of-mouth referrals.

As demand for its services increased across Scotland, Benson Accountants opened its Perth office in 2025. Initially led by Euan McLeod, the office has supported existing Scottish clients while drawing on the wider expertise of the firm to provide specialist business and tax advisory services.

In recent months, the Perth office has strengthened further with the addition of experienced accountants Elaine Ewing and Sandra Guthrie.

Ms Ewing, founder of Perthshire chartered accountancy firm Amber Scott, joined Benson Accountants following the merger of the two businesses earlier this year. She brings more than 30 years’ experience advising owner-managed businesses across sectors including property, construction, retail and service industries.

Amber Scott clients will continue to work closely with Ms Ewing while also benefiting from the wider expertise and additional resources available through Benson Accountants.

Ms Ewing said: “I am delighted to have joined a firm that shares the same commitment to client service that Amber Scott clients have come to expect.

“Working alongside the wider Benson team also gives us the opportunity to expand our presence across Scotland and support even more businesses as they grow and develop.”

Ms Guthrie also joined the Perth office earlier this year as a client manager after 13 years with Azets in Perth. Having grown up on a family farm north of Perth, Ms Guthrie brings both strong commercial experience and specialist rural sector knowledge to the business.

She said: “I was excited by the opportunity to join Benson Accountants and, since coming on board, it has been great to see how focused the business is on client relationships and delivering proactive advice.

“Growing up in a family business environment has given me a real appreciation of the importance of trusted advisers, and that culture is something that clearly runs throughout the firm.”

The firm says its aim is to build a long-term presence in Perthshire and across Scotland by combining local knowledge and relationships with the wider expertise of the Benson Accountants team.

Mr Benson added: “We have built a strong team across the practice and having Elaine and Sandra join us in Perth adds further experience, energy and ambition to the business.

“Their local knowledge and professional expertise will help us continue to strengthen our presence in Scotland and further develop the service we provide to clients across a range of sectors.”
