Dunedin Advisory investigates events leading to liquidation of KNS Shopfit

Christine Convy

Christine Convy, Chartered Accountant and Licensed insolvency practitioner at Dunedin Advisory Limited, has been appointed interim liquidator of KNS Shopfit (UK) Ltd.

The company, which operated from premises in Carluke providing shop fitting services to a variety of retail customers ceased trading on 17 April 2026 due to a liquidation petition lodged by HM Revenue and Customs, being undefended and resulting in the winding up of the company.

In recent years the company employed an average of 10 personnel however this had reduced to six shortly prior to the liquidation. This includes two apprentices whose contracts were terminated on 15 April 2026. Employees are being contacted by the liquidator’s office to assist in their submission of claims through the Redundancy Payments Service.

The company has sizeable tax liabilities in excess of £200,000. It is understood there are utilities and other trade creditors although the value of total debt is not yet known. The interim liquidator is currently investigating the asset position including vehicles, equipment and aged debts which will be realised into the liquidation.

The director, Mr Paul Stone, attributes the insolvency of the company as a result of quieter customer orders and lack of project sales to generate sufficient profit to meet obligations.

The liquidator will be contacting various stakeholders for information to assist in her enquiries and to determine the value of recoveries that can be made for the benefit of the creditors.
