Hero Brands records £700k operating profit

East Kilbride-headquartered Hero Brands has reported positive financial results for the year ending 31 December 2024, underpinned by the continued expansion of its brand portfolio.

The group delivered a group EBITDA of £1.4 million and posted an operating profit of £0.7m before exceptional items. The company’s cash flow was further strengthened by receiving £2m in dividends from its subsidiaries during the financial year.

A significant driver of this performance was the group’s headline food and beverage brand, German Doner Kebab (GDK). The chain solidified its market position by generating £179.1m in global system-wide sales for the period. Following this commercial success, GDK secured strategic investment from True Capital during the current 2025 financial year to accelerate its rollout in the UK and to facilitate expansion into new regions, including India.

The group, which now employs over 4,500 people and operates more than 200 restaurants globally, continues to diversify its revenue streams through the creator economy. This includes the incubation of the chicken brand Sides and the launch of Hero NXT, a licensing agency designed to commercialise talent IP.

Hero Brands Chairman Athif Sarwar said: “We are entering an exciting period of growth for Hero Brands as we continue to re-invest and create category defining brands that represent today’s culture.

“Our goal is to connect with new talent across music, fashion and culture, and use our platform to incubate and scale high-value sustainable brands.”

He added: “What resonates today are authentic connections and culture-worthy moments that reflect consumer values and identity. We are focused on making partnerships that don’t just sell product or service, but spark conversation, build belonging and community, and deliver sustainable value.”
