Ms Gibson stole the money over a three-year period whilst working at the east end store.

She said that she took the cash to help her brother deal with his gambling debts.

It was revealed that Ms Gibson “manipulated financial systems” to cover 45 transactions made to her personal bank accounts.

She pled guilty at the Glasgow Sheriff Court to embezzling a total of £248,652.85 between March 2015 and March 2018.

Ms Gibson’s actions were only realised when she went on maternity leave and the irregularities were then noticed by other staff members.

She was jailed by Sheriff Martin Jones QC.
