Falkirk Distillery has announced the launch of its first whisky, marking the region’s return to whisky production after three decades.

The milestone has been reached thanks to the dedication of Falkirk Distillery founder, George Stewart, and his daughter, Fiona Stewart, whose dream has now been realised.

Located near the UNESCO-listed Antonine Wall, the family-owned distillery stands as a symbol of commitment to tradition and quality. The inaugural release is a culmination of the Stewarts’ vision and the distillery’s unique approach, combining Speyside copper stills with the purest lowland spring water, contributing to the whisky’s distinct character.

The Falkirk Distillery’s offering pays homage to the town’s industrial past, with packaging that reflects its heritage. The first 100 bottles of this limited edition release, featuring 640 bottles of golden, unpeated malt whisky aged for over three years, will be auctioned exclusively through Perthshire-based Whisky Auctioneer.

The public release is scheduled for 10 January 2024.

George Stewart said: “I often wondered if it was a dream or a dram too many but now I can say the dream of a dram has now been realised.”

Fiona Stewart added: “To say that I am proud of what we have achieved is an understatement, this has been a Herculean task.”
