And finally…WhatsApp launches payment service

Facebook-owned messaging service WhatsApp, which has 700 million users across the globe, has launched a new payment service allowing users to send each other cash.

The service has debuted the new mobile payments service in India, where 200 million people use the app daily - the world’s largest number of WhatsApp users.

According to reports, the payments service is found attached to a chat window on an Indian user’s screen part of its Attachments menu.

Once in that menu, users can then bring in their bank account of choice and connect it to the app via the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system that has been developed in the country.

If tests go well t is expected WhatsApp will roll out the feature to users worldwide.
