Katie Close

Katie Close will lead the ICAS tax team, overseeing technical content and resources for over 24,000 members working in more than 85 countries.

She will also drive the strategic development of policy influence and thought leadership in taxation as well as build on ICAS’ excellent relationships with HMRC and wider government. 

She joins ICAS from Systal Technology Solutions, where she served as group head of tax since October 2024. In this role, she led the global tax function across 28 countries, driving compliance, governance, and strategic tax planning.  

Her previous roles include senior tax positions at KCA Deutag and Aggreko, giving her a broad understanding of the tax challenges facing modern businesses. Her industry experience positions her to shape the tax agenda across the profession and ensure ICAS remains a trusted and authoritative voice on tax matters in the UK and beyond. 

Ms Close, who officially began her role on 3 November, is a dual member of ICAS and the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT), bringing extensive experience and a proven record of tax leadership across multiple industries and geographies.  

She is also familiar with the ICAS community, having won the prestigious ICAS Gold Medal in 2015 – the most distinguished honour awarded by ICAS Council – awarded for outstanding achievement and contribution to the accountancy profession, business, or public life over a sustained period.
