Jane Mitchell CA joins board of The James Hutton Institute

The James Hutton Institute has appointed Jane Mitchell CA as a non‑executive director to its board.
Born and raised on her family farm in Inverurie, Ms Mitchell brings more than 30 years of experience in the finance sector to the institute. She currently serves in a business advisory role with accountancy firm Johnston Carmichael, where she specialises in the agricultural sector.
Ms Mitchell’s extensive career includes a series of senior roles with Clydesdale Bank across Scotland, including senior partner agribusiness and head of customer banking at the bank’s Thainstone branch.
She has also held several notable board positions, including nine years on the Aberdeen and Northern Marts (ANM) board, as well as serving as a council member and non‑executive director of the Scottish Agricultural Organisation Society (SAOS).
A graduate of Aberdeen University and a chartered accountant, Ms Mitchell currently serves as a trustee of the Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RSABI).
Her expertise will be crucial as the Hutton continues to provide cutting-edge research that supports the breeding of resilient crops and sustainable agricultural practices through its Crop Innovation Centre.
