Accountancy and business advisory firm Johnston Carmichael has expanded its leadership team with a promotion in its Fraserburgh office, as part of the firm’s growth strategy across Scotland.

Iain Castles, who joined Johnston Carmichael in 2012 following a merger with Ritson Smith, has been promoted to director and is one of seven leadership promotions in the firm across Scotland.

Mr Castles advises a range of owner managed businesses across Fraserburgh and the far north east, and has particular expertise in the fishing and oil and gas sectors.

Mike Pitman, managing partner of Johnston Carmichael’s Fraserburgh office, said: “We place great emphasis on developing talent from within to maintain a strong leadership team.

“Iain’s well-deserved promotion will strengthen our senior team locally, ensuring the service and expertise we offer our clients is of the highest standard.

“I am confident that he will play an important role as we continue to expand our range of services to meet the changing needs of our clients - whether they are starting up businesses, expanding into new markets, protecting their own wealth, or sustaining their position in the market against the various economic and political challenges.”

Mr Castles added: “Local businesses are experiencing a huge amount of change at the moment. With Brexit negotiations underway and initiatives like HMRC’s Making Tax Digital coming down the line, it’s great to be part of a team who can provide trusted advice to help protect our clients’ interests.”
