Bank of Scotland-owner Lloyds Banking Group has announced it will close a further 13 Scottish branches.

The closures, part of a broader 49 closures across the UK, are scheduled to take place between January and October 2026.

The move includes 26 Lloyds Bank, 13 Bank of Scotland, and 10 Halifax sites. The group has assured that all staff affected by the closures will be offered alternative roles within the business. Once completed, the banking group will retain a network of 705 branches.

The Scottish locations set to close are:

  • Bellshill
  • Castle Douglas
  • Dingwall High Street
  • Erskine
  • Gairloch Bank Brae
  • Glasgow Anniesland
  • Grangemouth
  • Hawick
  • Largs
  • Larkhall
  • Nairn
  • St Andrews
  • Tain

This announcement follows a similar move by NatWest Group, which last week revealed plans to shut 46 mobile branches in January. In response to the Lloyds closures, cash access network Link has recommended the creation of 11 new banking hubs to maintain access to services in affected communities.

A spokesperson for Lloyds Banking Group attributed the decision to a shift in customer behaviour: “The way people are banking has changed, with over 21 million customers choosing our apps to manage their money.”

The group emphasised the availability of alternative banking options, adding, “alongside our app, our customers can use any Lloyds, Halifax or Bank of Scotland branch, the Post Office or banking hubs for their everyday banking, and deposit cash at over 30,000 PayPoint locations”.
