Mac Mic Land has unveiled ambitions to continue expanding its portfolio of UK sites as it confirms Steve Clegg as its new chief executive officer.
The strategic land company’s latest growth plans set out its aim to increase its land holding from 62 to 85 sites within the next six months, giving the potential to deliver more than 35,000 homes.
With its current portfolio of sites centred around key locations in Scotland’s Central Belt, South West and South East England, the company now looks to expand its presence across the North West and Midlands, as well as strengthen activity in its existing areas of coverage.
Operating from offices in London, Glasgow and Bristol, the team continues to grow, including the recent appointment of Mr Clegg and John-Rhys Davies, planning manager in the South West region. Further hires are planned to support the company’s wider growth strategy.
With strong regional team leads already in place, the business is well‑positioned to deliver on its strategic ambitions and maintain momentum across all regions.
Mr Clegg said: “As Mac Mic Land steps into a new era, we have ambitious plans for growth across the North, Midlands and East of England, as well as growing our existing portfolio across the UK.
“We continue to look at areas with growing populations and good employment prospects, places where people need quality, well-designed homes to provide, well-connected and sustainable communities.
“We are committed to doing it in the right way, balancing commercial success with purposeful placemaking and creating a lasting legacy that landowners can be proud of.”
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Clegg added: “With the backing of more than 100 years of experience of the Mactaggart and Mickel brand, I am truly excited about this opportunity and I look forward to building on the successes the team has already achieved.”
Mr Clegg joins the Mac Mic Land executive board, which comprises fourth-generation family members of the Mickel family, including senior director Andrew Mickel and director Ross Mickel. Senior advisor David Gaffney, who has acted as interim CEO since October 2025, remains on the board.
Mr Mickel said: “The evolution of the business sees our continued focus on providing landowners with guidance, certainty, and a clear route to maximising the value of their land. We’ve a genuine desire to do things the right way and the capital to help us to grow.
“Steve brings a wealth of experience to Mac Mic Land, as a senior leader and with decades of knowledge of the UK real estate and residential landscape. We are delighted to welcome Steve and John-Rhys to the team.”
Having enjoyed a successful career as a real estate banker and senior consultant, Steve brings extensive real estate and finance expertise together with a proven track record of strategic leadership. He has worked closely with the Mac Mic Land team since 2025, developing a detailed understanding of the business.
In line with the new focus, Mac Mic Land has unveiled its new brand and website, designed to give the company a distinctive look and feel, whilst also respecting the Mactaggart & Mickel roots.
