Andrew Rennie

Port Glasgow-headquartered McLaren Packaging Group has promoted Andrew Rennie to finance director as it strengthens its board for a new period of growth.

Mr Rennie joined McLaren from Coretrax, the oil and gas global innovation leader enabling efficient and sustainable well lifecycle solutions, where he was corporate finance manager, prior to which he held the same position at accountancy firm Azets.

The specialist paper and cardboard packaging manufacturer has also appointed Stewart MacRae and Alasdair Miller as non-executive directors to its board of directors.

Mr MacRae recently retired from the Scotch Whisky industry after 27 years, the last 12 as regional managing director – EEMEA and India for Edrington, where he was responsible for delivering significant growth and success across the regions. He is an experienced UK and international board director in both an executive and non-executive capacity.

Mr Miller is an experienced non-executive director and adviser to both private and PE backed businesses, with a career spanning 35 years including private equity, structured finance and M&A. Formerly finance director at McLaren Packaging Group, he was named CFO of the Year in 2023 in the family-owned business category at the Scottish chief financial officer awards.

McLaren Packaging Group managing director, Donald McLaren, said: “These appointments will deepen and extend the experience on our board, chaired by Peter Lederer CBE, and comes at a time when we are gearing up for further growth, with the objective of continuing to develop and expand our reputation as a supplier of sustainable and innovative packaging to the premium and luxury sectors.

“Stewart is an accomplished entrepreneurial and collaborative commercial leader, a strategic long-term thinker with a growth mindset, consistent record of growing sales, brand equity and profit across multiple markets and categories, while Alasdair has worked with us for five years as FD and we are delighted to retain his significant knowledge and experience of our business in a non-exec capacity going forward.

“Andrew has impressed and shown great commitment in his short time as corporate finance manager and I am pleased to see him step up to the FD role so quickly.”

The appointments follow in the wake of a company restructure heralding the launch of two new brands, McLaren Presentation and McLaren Divisions, which join McLaren Corrugate to form three divisions under the umbrella organisation McLaren Packaging Group.
