Morrison to drive RBS' commercial mid-market growth

Iain Morrison.

Iain Morrison has been appointed as Regional Managing Director, Commercial Mid-Market (CMM), for the Royal Bank of Scotland, replacing Judith Cruickshank who was appointed as Chief Operating Officer of the bank’s retail business earlier this year.

Mr Morrison brings three decades of experience leading corporate and commercial banking franchises at HSBC across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

The appointment further underlines the Royal Bank’s commitment to growth in Scotland and to strengthening its position as Scotland’s biggest bank for business.

The Royal Bank of Scotland supports 110,000 Scottish businesses, with 7,600 of these businesses in the mid-market segment.

Robert Begbie, CEO Commercial & Institutional, NatWest Group, said: “I’m pleased to welcome Iain to the Royal Bank of Scotland as he takes on this important leadership role for our commercial mid-market business.

“The Royal Bank has been part of Scotland’s economic story for almost 300 years, and our ambition is to continue playing a key role in helping Scottish businesses invest, grow and compete.”

Mr Morrison said: “Scotland has a strong community of ambitious mid-market businesses that are vital to jobs, investment and economic growth.

“As the country’s biggest bank for the mid-market segment, we have an important role to play in helping those firms realise their ambitions - whether that is investing for the future, expanding into new markets or navigating the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
