Ingenza appoints Nick Challoner as new CEO to drive US growth
Nick Challoner
Ingenza Limited, the Edinburgh-based contract research, development and manufacturing organisation (CRDMO), has appointed Nick Challoner as its new chief executive officer.
Mr Challoner brings over three decades of experience to the role at Ingenza, which was founded in 2003 as a University of Edinburgh spin-out. Starting in research and development before moving into senior commercial roles, he combines scientific insight with business leadership, and will bring a breadth of experience and strategic vision to Ingenza
Mr Challoner said: “Ingenza has extraordinary people, world-class science, superb capabilities and a clear ambition to grow. Since I started, it’s evident to me that the team is really the driving differentiator behind this company, with a quality of talent and a level of experience that is second to none.
“They all passionately apply their knowledge to the benefit of customers, and create an entrepreneurial environment where innovation can thrive.”
He continued: “What excites me most is the chance to sharpen our unique strengths, expand internationally – especially into the US – and ensure that our capabilities create real impact for customers.
“A key part of this will be building more commercial revenues, investing in GMP manufacturing and moving further up the supply chain, so we become an even more relevant and valuable partner.”
Mr Challoner is clear about his priorities in this role, with a focus on expanding international reach, driving commercial growth and ensuring the company’s science translates into tangible impact for its customers.
He explained: “Strategy is important, but it’s the execution that creates value. I’ve spent my first few months at Ingenza listening and drawing out ideas already within the organisation, and will now shape them into clear, deliverable goals.
“By harnessing the team’s existing expertise and knowledge, I’m confident we can strengthen Ingenza’s reputation for excellence in biotechnology and manufacturing.”
Executive chair at Ingenza, Ian Shott, added: “Nick is an exceptional leader with vast international life sciences experience and a rare combination of strategic foresight, scientific acumen and commercial discipline.
“His global experience and ability to drive innovation-led growth make him the ideal choice to lead Ingenza into the future. We are very excited to have him at the helm during this pivotal stage of the company’s journey.”
