PwC has announced that its partners will receive a record £1 million this year after reporting profits from an “exceptional year”.

All 995 UK partners will receive an average compensation of £920,000, a new record, up six per cent from last year’s record compensation of £868,000, and an additional £100,000, The Times reports.

The bonus £100,000 windfall is a result of the sale of PwC’s mobility services business for £1.8 billion to American private equity firm, Clayton Dubilier & Rice.

Partners were told that the profit-per-partner is expected to slip back to £900,000 due to heavy reinvestment in the business focused on PwC’s people and technology. Still, PWC’s partners are better paid than other big four firms with partners receiving average compensation of £845,000 at Deloitte, £749,000 at EY, and £688,000 at KPMG last year.

Kevin Ellis, PwC’s chairman, said: “It has been an exceptional year but we can’t take this for granted. With economic headwinds facing all businesses including rising costs and the tightness of the labour market, we have to shore up with further investment, particularly in people, skills and technology.”
