RSM Glasgow gets behind Mary’s Meals backpack appeal

RSM’s Glasgow team has collected almost 50 backpacks to donate to life-changing Mary’s Meals project.

Mary’s Meals sets up school feeding programmes in some of the world’s poorest communities, where poverty and hunger often prevent children from gaining and education.

By providing a daily meal in school, Mary’s Meals attracts chronically hungry children to the classroom and gives them the energy they need to learn.

The Backpack Project provides children who receive Mary’s Meals with basic learning tools to ensure that every child can get the most out of their lessons.

Supporters are asked to pack clothes, shoes, towels, stocked pencil cases, notepads, spoons, soap, tooth brushes and paste into a suitable schoolbag.

The audit, tax and consulting firm’s team in Glasgow brought in an item each week over two months to fill 46 backpacks plus two additional boxes of goodies.

Kelly Adams, partner at RSM said: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the team and their families. The premise behind the appeal really resonated with our staff and their children who gave additional items to support other children in need, which was great.

“As a client, we have a greater understanding of the work that Mary’s Meals delivers, so we know that each backpack will directly help support some of the world’s poorest children, which makes it all worthwhile.”
