Saffery welcomes 15 new team members

Chartered accounting and business advisory firm Saffery is continuing its expansion in Edinburgh after appointing 15 new team members across its corporate tax, accounting and audit divisions.

In its corporate tax team, Saffery has appointed Louise Anderson as senior manager, Aimee O’Hara-Wilson as manager and Sophie Murray as a tax assistant.

George Dickson and Oliver Kelly join the firm’s audit division as senior associates and Max Venditti has been appointed as an associate. In addition, Nathan Stringer, Lewis Murdoch, Ollie Stevens and Freddie Lambert all join as audit assistants.

The firm has also bolstered its accounting team with three new accounts assistants in Pearce Hopkins, Lilian Morrison and Oliver Magowan.

Clare McCulloch has been appointed as an executive assistant and Sophie O’Driscoll becomes the Edinburgh office’s new business support assistant.

In addition to the 15 new starters, Chris Nield, Niamh Boyd and Finley Stokes are also completing internships at the firm.

Saffery was established in 1855, making it one of the UK’s longest-standing independent accounting firms. Today it employs more than 1,200 people across nine UK offices and has had an office in Edinburgh for more than 30 years.

Last year Saffery relocated to 9 Haymarket Square, at the heart of the acclaimed Haymarket Edinburgh development, and these latest appointments mean it now employs more than 75 people in Edinburgh.

Ms Anderson has spent more than 25 years working in Edinburgh at both a Big Four firm and at an independent accountancy practice, as well as within an in-house accounts team.

She said: “Moving to Saffery is an opportunity to join one of Edinburgh’s best-known and most respected accountancy firms. The variety of the work also really appealed, with the firm working for businesses and organisations of all shapes and sizes, and across all industries, so I’m really looking forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead.”

Sean McGinness, partner and head of Saffery’s Edinburgh office, said: “Over the past 12 months we’ve grown significantly in Edinburgh due to our full-service offering.

“Although we’re widely known for being one of Scotland’s leading landed estates and private wealth advisers, businesses and their owners increasingly recognise our team’s strength when it comes to guiding them through the UK’s ever more complex corporate tax rules and compliance obligations.

“Our accounting and audit divisions have also experienced significant growth with numerous high-profile client wins due to our partner-led, bespoke approach, which is firmly focussed on giving clients a service that is highly productive and always adds value by improving how their business or organisation performs.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome so many new faces into our team and it reinforces our reputation as an employer of choice within our industry. There’s no doubt that they will all further enhance the service levels that our clients enjoy and we’re already planning to make several more appointments, in the coming months.”
