Savills appoints new Scottish director to rural property division

George Hipwell

George Hipwell has moved to Savills as the new Scottish director of its rural property division.

He joins the Perth office from Davidson & Robertson where he was responsible for the rural and agency department.

A chartered surveyor, Fellow of the Association for Agricultural Valuers and experienced property manager, George will be working with the management team to provide strategic management, as well as professional consultancy across a wide range of projects including valuation, landlord and tenant matters, utilities, compulsory purchase, and capitalising on development and renewables opportunities.

George said: “It is an incredibly dynamic and exciting time for the rural management sector in Scotland, with the many opportunities and challenges that brings. These include the evolving natural capital market, ongoing consultations on land reform, a proposed new Agriculture Bill, recent legislative impacts on our vital rural lettings market, and competing demands on land for alternative uses like development and renewables.

“Supported by the extensive expertise at Savills I look forward to maximising the resulting opportunities for clients and helping them to mitigate against risk.”

Hugo Struthers, head Savills rural business in Scotland, said: “We are very fortunate that George is joining us, given the strength and depth of his considerable experience across a wide range of rural specialisms. Working with our established management team, he will also have a strategic role ensuring we deliver a best in class service, whilst helping to expand our client base.”
