Schroder Oriental Income Fund appoints new broker and adviser

Richard Sennitt fund manager at Schroders Oriental Income Fund

Schroder Oriental Income Fund (SOI) has appointed Winterflood, a division of Marex Financial, as the company’s sole corporate broker and financial adviser with immediate effect, replacing Deutsche Numis.

The board confirmed that Winterflood will undertake market purchases of ordinary shares in the company in line with its discount management policy, pursuant to the authority to repurchase ordinary shares granted by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting held on 3 December 2025.

Winterflood specialises in providing liquidity for UK closed-end investment trusts.

The board has previously said it will step in to buy back shares whenever the discount to net asset value exceeds 5%. SOI shares currently trade at a discount of around 2.8%, still well inside their 12-month average of 4.49%; the trust bought back around 5.2% of its issued share capital during the 2025 financial year.

The £1.02bn trust, managed by Richard Sennitt at Schroders, invests in Asia Pacific companies with attractive dividend yields and has increased its dividend every year since launch in 2005.
