Science and technology vacancies in Scotland rise 15 per cent year-on-year

Demand for science & technology professionals in Scotland rose by 15 per cent year-on-year to July 2018 according to research from the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo).

The data, provided by recruitment software company, Innovantage, also reveals a notable increase in overall permanent vacancies, which rose by 12 per cent.

Moya Rylands, regional director at APSCo said: “After months of progress, professional job availability in Scotland is continuing to rise. Leading this success is the country’s technology sector which is growing from strength to strength.

“Digital transformation company Atos recently unveiled its latest Digital Vision for Scotland Report, focusing on how the country can create a competitive advantage in a global market and become a digital leader. With reports revealing both Glasgow and Edinburgh are expected to become large start-up hubs for international technology, this will help accelerate economic growth, attract professionals within the sector and enable organisations to improve overall productivity.

“A boom in hiring activity reciprocates the clear determination to ensure Scotland remains a digital leader. With a recognition that Scottish businesses are at the forefront for innovation and opportunities, this will help to further attract technical skills and shape new roles in the future. “
