Scottish Friendly partners with Just Finance Foundation to boost financial education
Stephen McGee – CEO at Scottish Friendly
Scottish Friendly has announced a new charity partnership with Just Finance Foundation (JFF), a leading organisation dedicated to improving financial education for children and young people across the UK.
This collaboration marks an important step in Scottish Friendly’s commitment to promoting financial resilience and inclusion. Together, the two organisations aim to empower the next generation with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed financial decisions throughout their lives.
The focus of this partnership will be the expansion of Just Finance Foundation’s LifeSavers programme in Scotland. Thanks to Scottish Friendly’s support, the programme will now include two dedicated Education Outreach Coordinators for Scotland – the first roles of their kind for JFF – working directly with schools to deliver high-quality financial education.
Through this initiative, primary schools across Scotland will gain access to free financial education resources and teacher training. The programme helps teachers deliver engaging, practical money lessons and create safe, inclusive environments for children to explore financial topics.
The partnership will support a range of joint initiatives, including:
- Funding the delivery of financial education programmes in primary schools across Scotland
- Employee volunteering opportunities supporting community outreach
- Raise the awareness of the importance of early financial education and the impact it can make
Stephen McGee, CEO at Scottish Friendly, said: “We’re delighted to be joining forces with Just Finance Foundation. Their mission to embed financial education from an early age aligns perfectly with our values and long-standing efforts to support families and local communities.
“Together, we hope to make a lasting impact by equipping young people with essential skills to help them manage money confidently as they grow. We’re especially proud to support the expansion of the LifeSavers programme in Scotland, helping bring these vital resources to schools in our local communities.”
Sarah Wallace, director at Just Finance Foundation, said: “We’re excited to welcome Scottish Friendly as a strategic partner. Their support will help us reach even more children with essential money lessons and strengthen our mission to build lifelong financial wellbeing for all.
“Expanding our LifeSavers programme in Scotland is a major milestone, and we’re grateful to Scottish Friendly for making it possible.”
Chris Cummings, chair of trustees at Just Finance Foundation, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Scottish Friendly to help more children build the financial skills they need for the future.
“This exciting partnership reflects the power of working together to create meaningful change for young people. With the support of Scottish Friendly, we will expand our trusted financial education programmes to more schools across Scotland and help even more children build strong financial foundations. We’re looking forward to a collaborative partnership that has a real, lasting impact on children’s futures.”
The partnership aligns with Scottish Friendly’s commitment to delivering lasting social impact and improving the financial wellbeing of children and young people to help the family unit prosper.
