Scotland’s most ambitious companies have added almost £800 million in new sales over the past two years, according to the latest UK Fast Growth Index, which tracks the fastest-growing privately owned firms across the UK.
The fifty Scottish companies featured on the 2025 Index increased their combined turnover from £661m in 2022 to £1.46 billion in 2024 – an average growth rate of 121%, with the typical firm more than doubling in size.
Now in its third year, the Index analyses high-growth companies headquartered across seven UK regions. Nationally, the 350 firms listed added £7.6bn in turnover between 2022 and 2024.
Professor Dylan Jones-Evans
Professor Dylan Jones-Evans OBE, founder of the UK Fast Growth Index, said Scotland’s cohort demonstrated exceptional resilience and economic impact.
“Scotland is home to some of the most dynamic and resilient fast-growth firms anywhere in the UK. From green engineering to digital infrastructure and high-value consumer brands, these businesses are scaling at speed and making a disproportionate contribution to both regional and national prosperity.”
He added that the top ten Scottish firms account for just over half of all new revenue generated across the list, highlighting “the outsized impact of a relatively small number of scaling companies”.

The Index reveals several structural trends driving Scotland’s fast-growth economy:
- Net-zero industries are leading the surge. Loveelectric recorded almost fourteen-fold growth as salary-sacrifice schemes accelerate the shift to electric vehicles. Utopi, Resolis, Smartly Energy, Union Technical and Green Home Systems also expanded rapidly, reflecting strong demand for retrofits, renewables and smart energy systems. Engineering group RSE added more than £140m in new revenue to reach £257m turnover.
- Growth is clustering at the intersection of engineering, digital and low-carbon infrastructure. Construction, B2B services, technology and green-focused firms dominate the list, forming a modern Scottish growth engine built around sustainability and digital capability.
- Scotland’s premium consumer brands continue to scale. Design-led businesses such as Kiltane and Strathberry reinforce the country’s strength in high-value exports.
- The Central Belt leads, but growth is emerging nationwide. Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen account for most companies and turnover, though firms in Inverness, Dundee, Midlothian and Blantyre also feature.
