Professional services group S&W has expanded into Scotland with the acquisition of Haines Watts Scotland, operating across Edinburgh, Kirkcaldy, and Stirling.

This move strengthens S&W’s UK footprint and builds on its recent northern growth, following the acquisition of the businesses of Haines Watts in Leeds, Manchester, and Newcastle last year.

The latest deal brings 39 new colleagues, including Haines Watts managing partner Graeme Miller, into the S&W team, enabling the firm to deliver a full suite of services to clients across Scotland. The team in Scotland provides tailored accountancy and advisory support to owner-managed businesses and individuals, with expertise spanning audit, business outsourcing, tax advisory, and compliance.

This is the fifth acquisition that S&W has made since it launched in March 2025 with backing from Apax Funds.

Andrew Wilkes, CEO at S&W, said: “Graeme’s team has built a strong reputation in Scotland, and this acquisition gives us a fantastic opportunity to introduce the S&W brand to this important market. I’m delighted to welcome our new colleagues and look forward to working together to support clients across Scotland and beyond.

“This move reflects our continued commitment to growth, with strong backing from Apax Funds, and reinforces our ambition to be the go-to professional services firm for dynamic businesses and private clients with complex needs.”

Donna Bulmer, partner and executive team member at S&W, added: “I’ve known Graeme for many years and greatly admire the business he has built. I’m thrilled to be working with Graeme and his team again as he leads S&W’s launch into Scotland.

“This acquisition helps drive our continued expansion across the UK and creates a great opportunity for us to provide even more clients with a broad range of services.”

Mr Miller said: “Partnering with S&W marks an exciting new chapter for our team and our clients. With the backing of a fast-growing group and access to an extensive depth of services, we can offer greater strategic support to businesses and private clients with complex needs across Scotland.

“Our focus remains on strong local relationships, now enhanced by the scale and resources of S&W, which positions us perfectly for ambitious growth.”
