Wbg appoints Garry Clarke CA as CFO

Garry Clarke and Allan Dowie
Wbg has appointed Garry Clarke CA as its new chief financial officer to spearhead the firm’s ambitious growth strategy.
Mr Clarke was most recently finance director and chief operating officer at Localist (formerly known as Enterprise Foods). The high-level appointment further bolsters Wbg’s management team and comes just two weeks after the appointment of former Tesco Bank boss Benny Higgins as its new chairman.
Mr Clarke, a Chartered Accountant, has an extensive pedigree operating at the highest echelons of corporate Scotland in a variety of financial roles including financial controller at Hewden, finance director at Clyde Union SPX and group financial controller at Clyde Blowers Capital.
Welcoming him to Wbg, CEO Allan Dowie said: “We’re delighted that Garry is coming to join us. His appointment further strengthens the management team; his wealth of experience and expertise across private equity and service businesses will prove invaluable to helping the firm realise its growth targets over the years ahead.”
Mr Clarke added: “I’m very pleased to join with Allan and the rest of the team at Wbg to play a part in bringing to fruition their bold plans for expansion.
“Having been impressed by the pace of transformation that Wbg has undergone over recent years, I’m greatly looking forward to drive that transformation further to realise its objective of growing its fee income to £30m in three years and £50m in five years to achieve a ranking in the top 30 UK full-service professional services firms.”
Mr Clarke takes over from the previous CFO, Yvonne Kemp, who is going to support Wbg shareholders N4 Partners across a number of its investments.
