Wbg has launched a new technology services offering to support its client base of UK SMEs.

As part of its growth strategy and investment in technology solutions to enhance the client experience, the launch of Wbg Technology Services, in partnership with its information and communication technology services provider, NVT Group, will provide an offering of IT managed services and professional services to clients.

“There are 5.5 million businesses in the UK with SMEs making up 99.8% of them. For many, IT remains a source of complexity, cost, or concern,” said Gordon Merrylees, head of entrepreneurship at Wbg.

“Only one in five SMEs consider themselves technologically adept. Many boards rely on limited in-house skills or fragmented external support. Businesses adopting multiple digital tools see up to a 25% productivity increase. Tech-led firms are two and a half times more likely to achieve high growth.”

Merrylees said that when it comes to cyber resilience, the risks cannot be ignored, with the UK government’s Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2025 having found that 43% of businesses experienced a breach in the last year, with 85% of these caused by phishing attacks.

“These incidents don’t just cause IT headaches – they disrupt trading, erode customer trust, and carry heavy financial and reputational costs,” he warned.

“The lesson is clear: strong governance, employee awareness, the right security tools, and trusted IT partners are critical to protecting your business, your people, and your customers, but above all support UK businesses in improving productivity and helping them start, scale and succeed.”
