Wbg has formed a strategic partnership with Entrepreneurial Scotland, the independent charity with a vision to “build the most entrepreneurial society in the world”.

The arrangement sees Wbg become Entrepreneurial Scotland’s exclusive accountancy partner, providing guidance, mentorship and support to the charity’s members.

Scott Grant, business development director at Wbg, said: “We see this partnership as an exciting opportunity to support the dynamic businesses coming through the Entrepreneurial Scotland cohorts.

“Entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of Scotland’s economy, and we see tremendous potential through this partnership to support their business growth ambitions by offering them specialised accounting, advisory, audit and tax expertise to help them start, scale and succeed.

“This arrangement is all about collaboration and partnership and teamwork and helping these businesses thrive. And the timing’s perfect, given our recent appointment of Gordon Merrylees as Head of Entrepreneurship who, during his time at RBS, worked with and supported entrepreneurs, early-stage startups and high-growth SMEs.”

Expressing excitement at the arrangement, Sean McGrath, Entrepreneurial Scotland CEO, said that the strategic partnership symbolises that Wbg is an organisation that believes deeply in the charity’s objectives, understands what it is seeking to achieve and wants to achieve the same objectives.

“We specifically sought a strategic partner rather than a corporate sponsor, because we didn’t want somebody to write a cheque and disappear,” he said.

“By aligning themselves with Entrepreneurial Scotland, Wbg is making a statement of intent to the market that they believe in Scotland, they believe in entrepreneurship, they believe in growing business for the benefit of everybody in Scotland and not only will they financially support our activities, but they will also be involved in helping us develop entrepreneurial leaders and build connections and create this movement.

“This partnership positions Wbg as the home of accountancy for entrepreneurs in Scotland. If you’re running an entrepreneurial business in Scotland, then Wbg should be your accountant because they’ll understand your business.

“Wbg has made an active decision to associate themselves with our in-built energy to demonstrate that they’re stepping up to the market and are ready to do more than just be an entrepreneur’s accountant – they want to be part of their journey because their journey means more than just money.”

Wbg’s commitment to this partnership with Entrepreneurial Scotland aligns with its growth strategy as commented on by Allan Dowie, CEO Wbg: “We are collaborating and building this relationship to help unleash entrepreneurial ambition across Scotland and help underpin our vision to be one of the leading specialist professional services firms.”
