Wbg’s 168 Whisky Club moves into the autumnal season this week with another tasting from Ferguson Whisky, whom it has supported from inception.

The club, formed 12 years ago by founder Donald McKinnon, is a fusion of mixing business and pleasure with a networking club.

Now with some 300 members, it is often hailed as “The best in the West” with tastings ranging from The Highlands to the Lowlands, Speyside and way out west with Campbeltown and the Jewel of the Whisky islands, Islay.

The club has enjoyed hosting giants of the industry from Bunnahabhain, Bruichladdich, Dalmore, and Glenallachie along with the famous Richard ‘The nose’ Paterson and the effervescent Fred Laing, not forgetting the hugely entertaining and knowledgeable Kenny MacDonald of Dràm Mòr to name but a few.

“We have tastings lined up well into 2026 and look forward to welcoming back our existing members along with anyone interested in sampling ‘The best in the West’,” said Mr McKinnon.

“We are pleased to advise we act for many clients in the whisky sector and would be delighted to speak with anyone wishing to seek out any of the professional services we offer at Wbg.”
