Alba Bank appoints Alastair Christmas as new commercial director

Alba Bank, the Glasgow-based challenger bank set to launch into the SME business market later this year, has appointed Alastair Christmas as its new commercial director.

Mr Christmas has over 30 years of experience within the UK financial sector at the Royal Bank of Scotland and Clydesdale Bank including notable, high-profile positions at Clydesdale Bank, where latterly he led a UK-wide team of 200 corporate and finance professionals as UK head of corporate and structured finance.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Banker Institute of Scotland and has recently completed his term as a board member of the Confederation of Business and Industry (CBI) Scotland. He is particularly skilled and experienced in portfolio management, financial risk, business relationship management and corporate finance. 



The bank has also announced the appointment of Mark Dow as its new HR director. Mr Dow joins Alba from The Mortgage Lender where he helped build and develop the HR strategy for the business. He is a Chartered CIPD Human Resources Professional with a proven record of demonstrating a return on HR investment, effectiveness and value.
