Professional services firm Aon has welcomed six graduates, one apprentice, and one placement student to its offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh as part of its early careers programme.

The new recruits join the firm’s wealth and commercial risk teams, gaining meaningful hands-on experience in actuarial consulting, investment, client management, broking and broader professional development.

All new joiners will receive guidance and support to develop into future leaders at Aon.

Aon’s early careers programme offers three routes – graduate, apprenticeship and placement year.

The firm’s graduate programme, called ‘Launch’, is focused on cultivating high achievers and preparing them for future leadership roles, as well as ensuring a smooth transition into full-time positions.

Aon’s apprenticeship programme offers a comprehensive 18-month to two-year experience that blends education with practical work.

Placement year students, currently in their third year of university, gain invaluable real-world experience before returning to complete their degree.

Frances Laverty, client service manager in Aon’s Glasgow office, said: “Aon’s early careers programme continues to attract exceptional talent in both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

“Each year, thanks to its strong reputation and proven success, competition for places on our graduate, apprenticeship, and placement schemes remains high. We’re consistently impressed by the calibre of individuals who join us.

“I’d like to congratulate all our new joiners, and I look forward to seeing them grow and thrive in their careers with Aon.”

Eden Tyldesley, apprentice investment consultant in Aon’s Edinburgh office, said: “Starting my career as an investment consultant apprentice in Aon’s wealth team has been a fantastic experience.

“I’d always wanted to get straight into industry rather than go to university, and being able to do this at a company as reputable as Aon is something I’m truly grateful for.

“Initially the apprenticeship programme stood out to me because of Aon’s position in the industry, however after learning more about the company, the culture was the reason I chose Aon.

“The team has been friendly and welcoming from day one, making the transition into my role much less daunting. I’ve already had opportunities to learn from and connect with colleagues at all levels, from graduates to associate partners, and the support I’ve received has helped me feel part of the team right away.

“I’m excited to grow with Aon and would recommend this pathway to anyone looking to jump straight in and make an impact.”

Justin Wong, data solutions graduate in Aon’s Glasgow office, said: “Aon’s data solutions graduate scheme was exactly what I was looking for coming out of university. It’s given me a strong start to my career, as I am surrounded by dedicated people and have access to a wealth of resources to help me grow.

“Coming from a STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) background, I was looking for an opportunity to break into finance, data, and consulting. I feel supported at Aon every step of the way and it’s clear there are endless opportunities for me to learn and progress.”
