Bank of Scotland-owner Lloyds appoints new group ambassador for Scotland

Emma Noble

Lloyds Banking Group, owner of Bank of Scotland and Scottish Widows, has appointed Emma Noble as chair of its Scottish Executive Committee and new group ambassador for Scotland.

In her new role, Ms Noble will focus on supporting Scotland’s sustainable economic growth and on improving investment in the housing sector.

She will lead a team of senior colleagues and work closely with local policymakers, businesses, charities and community organisations to help address some of Scotland’s key opportunities and challenges. The ambassador role is part of the group’s mission to help Scotland and the rest of the UK thrive and to support development across the nations and regions.

Born in Aberdeen, Ms Noble brings more than 10 years’ experience at Lloyds Banking Group. She has spent the past five years as the group director for conduct, compliance and operational risk and is responsible for helping the group deliver its strategy safely, leading relationships with regulators and acting as a trusted partner to the business. Alongside her new ambassador role, Emma will continue to lead conduct, compliance and operational risk across the group.

Ms Noble said: “I am honoured and excited to take on this role. Scotland is an amazing place to work and do business and has enormous potential. I’m really looking forward to bringing the best of Lloyds Banking Group in Scotland together as we collectively look to make a difference to the nation’s economic future.”

“A key priority for me over the coming months will be spending time with policymakers, businesses and the third sector to understand the challenges they face, and to help people feel more confident and informed about their finances. While Scotland, like the rest of the UK, faces pressures, strong foundations are already in place.

“I’m keen to work with leaders across the country to build on those strengths and support Scotland’s future success.”

Ms Noble will lead the group’s engagement across Scotland, drawing on the heritage of Bank of Scotland and Scottish Widows and will leverage Lloyds Banking Group’s innovation and expertise to support investment in housing, help achieve inclusive economic growth and support the country’s transition to a low-carbon economy.

She takes over from Jackie Leiper, who held the ambassador position for three years and stepped down from the role at the end of last year to spend more time with her family.
