Accountancy firm bk plus has strengthened its team in Glasgow with the appointment of David Meldrum as restructuring partner, and the promotion of Christie Murphy to tax director.

Mr Meldrum brings over 18 years’ experience in both personal and corporate restructuring and has developed a strong reputation for supporting owner-managed and SME businesses through periods of financial pressure.

His recent experience includes leading projects in the care, retail, and hospitality sectors, helping directors and shareholders find practical solutions to challenging circumstances.

Ms Murphy has been part of the Glasgow bk plus team since the start of her career and supports owner-managed and SME businesses across Scotland.

She advises on a wide range of tax matters, helping clients plan with clarity and understand the impact of changing rules on their business.

Her promotion recognises the key role she plays in supporting clients across the region and the contribution she has made since joining the firm.

Kenneth McEwen, managing partner in Glasgow, said: “It is fantastic to see the growth in our teams, both from experienced external appointments and internal promotions.  These appointments strengthen our ability to meet client needs as we continue to grow.

“Christie brings a clear, steady approach that gives clients confidence. Her promotion reflects the impact she has already made with businesses across the region and the part she will play as we continue to grow our tax offering in Scotland. David is already a well regarded and experienced member of the restructuring community in Scotland, and we are delighted that he has joined our team at an exciting time for bk plus.”

Mr Meldrum added: “I’m delighted to have joined bk plus – the firm has already built a strong presence in Scotland, and I look forward to growing our restructuring capability across the region.”

He joins as part of a wider expansion of the restructuring team across the UK, following the appointment of David Griffiths as Partner and Head of Restructuring, and the arrival of Angela Paterson, as Director, in Dundee earlier this year.

The Glasgow office has continued to grow this year, welcoming 13 new colleagues, including senior hires at Partner and Director level, experienced managers, and a new group of graduates. This growth has been driven by client need. We are building capacity to make sure our clients get the support they need, when they need it.

The firm’s investment in Glasgow sits alongside the wider expansion of bk plus across Scotland, with established teams in Glasgow, Dundee, Perth, Pitlochry and Falkirk. Each office is led by local people with long-standing relationships in their communities, supported by the resources of a national firm.

Mr McEwen concluded: “We’re building something meaningful in Scotland. The growth in Glasgow reflects the work coming through the door and the trust local businesses have placed in us. Our aim is simple, to support clients in Scotland with teams who know their markets and are here for the long term.”
