Caledonia Investments has appointed Alastair Vere Nicoll as a non-executive director with effect from 15 September 2026.

Mr Vere Nicoll started his career as a private equity lawyer at international law firm Freshfields. He later founded Berkeley Energy, a business focused on developing, constructing, owning and operating renewable energy assets in emerging markets.

He is currently chief strategy officer of Paratus, an energy price insurance business, and advises several businesses specialising in the energy transition space. He is also a graduate of the University of Oxford and holds a postgraduate law diploma from the College of Law.

Alastair is a member of the Cayzer family concert party and will join the Company’s Nomination Committee.

Will Wyatt, Caledonia’s Chair, said: “I am delighted to welcome Alastair to the board. He brings a valuable combination of entrepreneurial, investment and legal experience, together with a strong track record of building businesses and working across international markets.

“His strategic perspective and experience of investing for long-term growth will complement the skills of our existing directors, and we very much look forward to working with him.”
