CMS launches 2026 Future of Renewables events
Susie Lind
CMS is holding the next seminar in its six-monthly series of events aimed at supporting the growth of Scotland’s renewable energy sector.
This year’s Future of Renewables seminars take place on 21 April at CMS Aberdeen, then 28 April in CMS Edinburgh, with the final session taking place in CMS Glasgow on 6 May.
Renewable energy legal experts from the firm will be joined by guest speakers, including from international infrastructure asset managers, InfraRed Capital Partners; Edinburgh-headquartered pan European renewable energy company, Nadara; and UK renewable energy consultants, Locogen.
The free-to-attend seminars will focus on hot topics affecting renewable energy projects across Scotland including onshore wind repowering; transport issues; opportunities with ongoing reform; investment; and management of contractor insolvencies.
Edinburgh and Glasgow Future of Renewables sessions will be chaired by Susie Lind, a partner at CMS with contributions from her renewable energy colleagues Laura West, Caroline McIver and Claire Wallis, with CMS energy partner Paula Kidd chairing the Aberdeen session. Ian McLean from Locogen will also join the CMS team at all locations to discuss onshore wind opportunities in Scotland amid gate 2 grid reforms and capacity targets
In Edinburgh and Glasgow, CMS will be joined by further industry contributions from Alastair Campbell of InfraRed Capital who will deliver an investor view of renewable energy projects. Fellow guest contributor Finlay Becks-Phelps of Nadara will focus on the potential that repowering offers to UK wind energy projects.
In Aberdeen, CMS will be joined by Laura Jarvie of Cerulean Winds who will provide an overview of their floating offshore wind projects, and Deloitte who will share findings from their UK Energy Transition Investor Survey.
Ms Lind said: “We’re excited to be hosting this year’s Future of Renewables events where we’ll welcome leading experts to focus on the key issues that will shape the industry for years to come.
“Once again, we will be exploring both the challenges and opportunities for Scotland’s renewable energy industry within an ever-changing environment. Our aim is to provide valuable insights which will support project developers across Scotland and help the industry maximise its full potential.”
