Crowdfunding secures finance for Ooni

The Broxburn-based company have labelled their portable pizza technology as “game-changing”.

Ooni was founded by husband and wife, Kristian Tapaninaho and Darina Garland. It has a staff of 50 employees and has appeared on the Ellen Degeneres Show.

The crowdfunding campaign was set up to acquire funds for its Ooni Karu product, a wood and charcoal-fired pizza oven which can cook pizza in just 60 seconds.

The new Kickstarter project, which has already raised over £150,000, comes after the success of the company’s larger Ooni Pro model, which also raised over £500,000 in just five weeks through crowdfunding in 2017.

Ooni now ships to over 80 countries across Europe and in the USA.

Kristian Tapaninaho, chief executive and co-founder, said: “We’ve had great success with crowdfunding in the past and are so excited to be back on Kickstarter to launch Ooni Karu.”
