EY Scotland appoints ten partners as part of continued investment plan

EY has appointed ten new Partners in Scotland, demonstrating its continued commitment to the local market with significant further investments in talent and its office real estate.

The new partner appointments follow a sustained period of investment in EY’s Scotland practice over the last year. EY added to its position as the largest Big Four in Scotland by welcoming nearly 90 graduates and apprentices last September.

The Big Four firm also named Sue Dawe as its new Scotland country managing partner in July, appointed a new Aberdeen office managing partner in January, and has announced a major upgrade of its office real estate in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The new Partner promotions, which will be effective from 1 July, include Anna McConnell (GB Audit Centre of Excellence, Aberdeen), Callum Roulston (EY-Parthenon, Edinburgh), Fiona Rigg (Tax, Edinburgh), Gary Ardley (Consulting, Edinburgh), Lynne McHugh (Tax, Aberdeen), Nishant Mudgal (Consulting, Glasgow), and Scott McGinley (Assurance, Glasgow).

EY Scotland also welcomed Jess Murray (Consulting, Edinburgh) and Craig McLeod (Consulting, Edinburgh) as direct admit Partners, Chris Robinson as direct admit Equity Partner (EY-Parthenon, Edinburgh), and promoted David Borthwick to Business Development Director.

Earlier this year, EY named Gemma Noble as its new Aberdeen Office Managing Partner, following from Moray Barber who will lead the firm’s efforts to grow tax capability and expertise in the city and surrounding area. Gemma, originally from Aberdeen, joined EY as a graduate and made Partner in 2018.

EY is also continuing to invest in its early careers’ talent. At the end of last year, EY Aberdeen welcomed ten graduates, Edinburgh welcomed 59 (eight business apprenticeships, 51 graduates), and Glasgow welcomed 20 (two business apprenticeships, 18 graduates), bolstering talent across all services lines. The 2026 intake are due to join in the autumn.

Scott MacKenzie has also been appointed as Scotland Head of Restructuring. Scott’s career includes five years working in Scotland and a further ten years in London, before his promotion to Partner in 2024. He will lead the firm’s financial restructuring practice and a team of 15 specialists.

Following increased client demand, EY Glasgow is expanding its presence in Scotland’s largest city by taking an additional floor in the George Square office. The existing office space will increase by a third when a further floor is added to accommodate the 400 people working in the city.

EY Edinburgh is also moving to brand new premises at 3 Haymarket Square at the beginning of next year, providing a modern high spec workplace for the office population of nearly 750 people.

Sue Dawe OBE said: “We have a strong and growing business in Scotland and with a significant and growing presence in Scotland, continuing to make strategic investments to support our growth ambitions and meet our client needs.

“Over the last year alone, we have welcomed nearly 90 graduates and apprentices, appointed ten new Partners, announced a new Edinburgh office, expanded our office space in Glasgow and I was delighted to name Gemma as Aberdeen Office Managing Partner earlier this year. The investments we’re making in our skills, capabilities and office real estate reflect our ongoing strategy to support growth and deliver high-quality, innovative services for our clients in Scotland and beyond.

“While the economic environment remains unpredictable for all businesses, we have a clear strategy to drive our business forward, working closely across our key sectors and supported by the EY Scotland Board. I am proud of the positive impact we continue to make to the economic growth ambitions of Scotland and the UK.”
