The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) has been recognised for its leadership and excellence in digital education, winning two prizes at the Learning Technologies Awards 2025.

The awards, which take place on Thursday 13 November in London, celebrate the success of ICAS’ refreshed Chartered Accountant (CA) syllabus, launched in 2024, and its innovative digital platform, which together have transformed the learning experience for future Chartered Accountants.

ICAS received the silver award for Best Use of Blended Learning – Public & Non-Profit Sector and bronze in the category Best Digital Learning Transformation Programme.

The Learning Technologies Awards are among the most prestigious global honours in the learning and development industry, celebrating outstanding achievements in the design and implementation of learning technologies worldwide.

Organised by Learning Technologies, Europe’s leading workplace learning event, the awards attract hundreds of entries each year from organisations in more than 50 countries. The competition recognises excellence and innovation across 21 categories, spanning a wide range of learning and development technology disciplines.

ICAS’s success alongside leading global organisations underscores the professional body’s position at the forefront of digital transformation in professional education.

Gail Boag, executive director of learning and market development at ICAS, said: “These awards are wonderful recognition of our commitment to helping students reach their full potential. Through interactive and flexible digital learning, we’re empowering our students to engage deeply with the CA syllabus and thrive in a changing professional landscape.

“As the accountancy profession adapts to technological and societal change, our goal is to provide world-class education that prepares CAs to lead with integrity, insight and innovation.”

The launch of the new CA syllabus in 2024 marked a major milestone in shaping the next generation of accountants. At the heart of this transformation is the dynamic online learning platform designed to make study more engaging, personalised and accessible.

ICAS continues to redefine professional education through a dynamic blend of digital content and active, in-person learning. Its innovative system offers interactive materials, real-world case studies, and flexible study pathways – enabling students to build the skills, knowledge, and professional judgement essential for modern accountancy.

The blended framework ensures future accountants develop both the technical expertise and digital fluency demanded by today’s evolving business landscape.
