Interpath administrators appointed to King Foods
Head of Interpath in Scotland, Alistair McAlinden, and managing director Geoff Jacobs
Geoff Jacobs and Alistair McAlinden from Interpath have been appointed joint administrators to Foodstore Ltd, trading as King Foods, on 5 March 2026.
Based in Aberdeen, King Foods is a supplier of frozen foods, fresh fish products, dry goods, and fresh and frozen meat to hotel and retail catering outlets primarily across the North East of Scotland, Stirling and Edinburgh.
The company had experienced adverse trading for a number of years due to increased competition and cost price inflation, exacerbated by the well-documented challenges faced by hospitality and catering companies across the country.
Despite the efforts of the directors to find a solution to these challenges, losses and cash flow pressure resulted in the directors having to cease trading in mid-February 2026, following which steps were taken to file for the appointment of administrators.
With no prospect of trade resuming, it is with regret that the joint administrators have made the company’s 41 members of staff redundant.
Mr Jacobs, managing director at Interpath and joint administrators, said: “Significant headwinds continue to impact companies operating up and down the food and drink supply chain, including rising costs which place pressure on margins.
“This is resulting in many business owners seeking support and assessing options which we would encourage them to do proactively.
“We will now commence the process of marketing the Company’s business and assets, including its fitted cold storage facility in Aberdeen, its vehicle fleet and other properties.”
Alistair McAlinden, head of Interpath in Scotland and joint administrator, added: “As a priority, we will be extending support to King Foods’ employees who have sadly been impacted by redundancy.”
