James Hambro & Partners appoints Chris Hardie as financial planning specialist

Wealth manager James Hambro and Partners (JH&P) has appointed Chris Hardie as a financial planning specialist in its Edinburgh office.

Hardie has worked in financial planning for ten years and is a Chartered Financial Planner. He holds the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning and is a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society.

On joining the JH&P Edinburgh team, Mr Hardie is reunited with a number of former 7IM colleagues. Two of them, Alex Montgomery who launched JH&P’s Scottish office in February 2021 and financial planning expert George Martineau, are now partners at JH&P. Investment Manager Colin Orr and Client Services Manager Emily Palmer complete the team. Previously, Hardie had worked at Mearns & Company and Tcam Asset Management.

Alex Montgomery, head of JH&P’s Edinburgh office, said: “We have spent the past 11 months building a client-focused team here in Fountainbridge. We have all worked together in the past and know we make a good team. I’m thrilled that Chris is joining us – his appointment highlights the importance JH&P places on financial planning within wealth management. Chris’s approach to financial planning fits exactly with the style our clients appreciate and his technical knowledge is outstanding.”

Chris Hardie said: “I am very pleased to be joining JH&P, which has a great reputation in the industry and is growing quickly. I particularly like the fact that it is an independent partnership in control of its own destiny and focused so heavily on meeting client needs.”

Mr Hardie, who has a bachelor’s degree in Education Studies from Edinburgh University and studied to be a PE teacher, is a keen sportsman. When younger he played rugby for Melrose, Murrayfield Wanderers and Boroughmuir, but now prefers to focus on improving his golf swing.
