New head of employment tax crowns year of growth for Azets tax team
Catriona Donald
Azets has appointed Catriona Donald as both a new partner and head of the firm’s employment tax team in Scotland.
Ms Donald is a highly experienced employment tax specialist who has advised large corporates, private equity backed businesses and public sector clients during a near 30-year career. She has a strong track record of delivering complex projects, developing high performing teams and providing timely and strategic guidance across all areas of employment tax.
Her role at Azets will be to lead the development of the employment tax service and advise clients on the increasingly complex and changing employment tax rules. Prior to joining Azets, Ms Donald had specialised in employment tax with KPMG for more than 20 years.
The appointment of Ms Donald crowns two years of strong growth for the Azets tax practice in Scotland with staff numbers across all tax areas now more than 100. Recent budgets and growing concern amongst the business community over the cost and impact of taxation has been a key driver of rising demand for tax advice.
Ms Donald said: “Azets has been growing strongly in Scotland in recent years and the new role as head of employment tax presents an exciting opportunity to work with a wide range of new clients and to develop one of the leading teams in this increasingly important area of taxation.
“The last two budgets have propelled employment tax to the top of boardroom agendas as businesses grapple with a rising tax burden. I look forward to helping clients navigate new rules and manage their obligations as efficiently as possible.”
Greig McKnight, regional managing director for Azets in Scotland, added: “Catriona has an outstanding reputation for her expertise in employment tax.
“She will be a major asset to our growing client base, to the team that she will be leading and more widely across the Tax business in Scotland.”
