Break the Silence, a national charity supporting sexual violence survivors, has appointed Nicola Buchanan as the new chair of its board of trustees, following the recent departure of Elaine Crichton.
Ms Buchanan, a Chartered Accountant and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), joined the board in September 2023 and previously served as vice chair. She is currently senior financial control and treasury manager at CMS.
A spokesperson for the charity said: “Building on strong foundations including our staff-led strategic plan and robust policies and governance, Nicola’s leadership will ensure long-term sustainability of the charity as we provide specialist trauma support to survivors of childhood sexual abuse and their families across East & North Ayrshire.”
In a LinkedIn post, she said: “I’m really proud to step into the role of chair at this incredible organisation.
“The commitment of everyone involved is inspiring and I know me and my fellow board members, alongside the leadership team will do everything we can to build on the strong foundations we have in place.”
