Stonehaven Youth FC’s girls’ teams has welcomed two Aberdeen Dons players, Vicente Besuijen and Dante Polvara, to their Mineralwell Park home to speak with players and coaches, share advice and pose for photos.

The meeting was arranged by one of the Stonehaven club’s long-term sponsors, Scott James & Associates – an appointed representative of St. James’s Place Wealth Management, based in the heart of Aberdeen’s west end.

Stonehaven resident Scott James and his team have pledged their support by providing new strips and tracksuit tops, featuring the company’s name and logo, that the players can wear on matchday and while travelling between games.

Having first backed the current under-16s side three years ago, Scott James & Associates has recently extended its support across all age groups.

Graeme Stuart is one of the coaches for Stonehaven Youth’s under-16s side, where his daughter, Amelia, also plays as centre back.

He said: “Our thanks to Vicente and Dante for taking the time out of their busy schedules to come out, speak to the girls, and give them advice on how they can improve their game.

“We have a talented group here and the girls have given a good account of themselves so far this season. Now, we have a chance to kick-on during the second half of the campaign and aim to finish as high up the table as possible.

“The support from our sponsors allows us to keep the game accessible to all. Scott and his team have been excellent throughout the past couple of years, including when we weren’t able to play any competitive games, and we’re extremely grateful for their continued support.

“Interest in the game is growing year-on-year and we are managing to sustain teams across the different age groups – with around 100 girls now playing across the various teams compared to between 15 and 20 eight years ago. There is a genuine pathway for young girls, aged five or six, right the way up to under 16s, where maybe there wasn’t the opportunity before.”

Mr James commented: “As someone who resides in Stonehaven, I want to be a force for good and support the local community, wherever I can.

“Several of the girls at the different age groups are friends with my children. It’s nice to be able to help support them and, of course, we wish them well for a successful end to the season.

“This sponsorship provides great visibility for our business and if we can then help the parents to secure their financial futures then this is another way that the children will benefit, albeit this may be many years away before the children see it.”

Established in 2015, Scott James & Associates supports clients and their families through providing sound financial advice, predominantly covering Aberdeen City and Shire, Angus, and Perthshire.

Locally, Scott James & Associates is involved with several other sports clubs including Stonehaven Cricket Club and Stonehaven Golf Club while, in the past, it has supported Mackie Academy FP RFC with its annual mini and micro tournaments as well as Rhythm Nation Dance and Fitness.
