Raft of promotions at CMS

Eileen MacMahon and Amanda Cooke
CMS has announced 48 new promotions in Scotland including four lawyers who move to the senior role of Of Counsel.
The promotions also include an elevation for 14 colleagues operating in non-fee earning roles within the firm’s three Scottish offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.
The newly promoted Of Counsels include Dr Amanda Cooke from the firm’s Scottish pensions team, an established pensions lawyer with a wealth of commercial and technical expertise. Glasgow-based Eileen MacMahon, a transactional employment law specialist, is also promoted to Of Counsel. Ms MacMahon has over 15 years’ experience working primarily on TUPE transfers and people issues relating to M&A transactions and outsourcings.

Jamie Marshall and James Dundas
They are joined by fellow Of Counsel promotees Jamie Marshall and Jimmy Dundas, both based in Edinburgh within CMS’s banking & finance team. Mr Marshall has over 10 years’ experience operating within financial services, specialising in advising asset management and life insurance clients. Mr Dundas is a project finance specialist who has acted for a wide range of lenders and developers on innovative and complex projects across the renewable energy sector.
An additional 10 CMS colleagues have progressed to senior associate level while a further 15 move up to associate level. There were also promotions announced in business services roles including those within paralegal, finance & accounting, innovation, and knowledge departments.
This latest round of promotions follows the firm’s announcement in March when Robbie Somerville, Rory Thomson and Thibault Jeakings were named as CMS’s newest partners in Scotland.
Allan Wernham, managing director of CMS Scotland, said: “These promotions demonstrate our commitment to nurturing and developing our people across all of our Scottish offices rewarding their dedication, hard work and commitment towards clients and colleagues.
“Today’s announcement includes four colleagues who move to the senior role of Of Counsel and progression for a number of other talented, fee-earning and client-facing lawyers. These promotions also underline our ongoing investment into a number of colleagues operating in key non-fee earning roles, which adds further value to our service offering.”
