Mainprize Offshore Ltd,  which is managed by husband and wife team, Bob and Sharon Mainprize, and currently employs more than 70 staff, will take delivery of two new workboats, MO6 and MO7, from Vietnam in January 2022.

The company’s existing turnover of £9 million is expected to increase to approximately £12 million with the addition of the new vessels to its current fleet of high-speed craft and workboats. Their arrival could see a potential increase in the company’s staff to around 120.

Originally founded as a fishing business more than 100 years ago, Mainprize Offshore now has more than 30 years’ experience of operating in the North Sea’s offshore oil, gas and renewables industries. Its services include technician transfer, cable and pipeline guard, seabed surveys and cabling as well as fuel, equipment and cargo supply.

The new vessels are state-of-the-art windfarm workboats and will enable Mainprize’s clients to maintain and repair offshore wind turbine generators, increasing operators’ power generation and efficiency. Plans are already under way to continue the expansion of the company’s fleet with the addition of a further two workboats. In October, Mainprize Offshore will move to new 2,500 sq ft ‘COVID compliant’ premises at Scarborough Business Park.

Royal Bank of Scotland is principal banking partner at this year’s COP26 summit and said the partnership supports the bank’s aim to increase its sustainability credentials.

Mr Mainprize said: “The expansion of our fleet with the arrival of these new vessels will allow us to move our operations to the next level, enhance our services and grow staff numbers. Alongside our imminent move to bigger premises and our ongoing investment of around £2.5 million in research and development, this will enable us to futureproof the business.

“We have had an excellent relationship with Royal Bank of Scotland for 30 years, a period which has seen our turnover increase, in a relatively short time, from around £400,000 to a position where we are now close to a figure of £10 million. Quite simply, we couldn’t have achieved what we have without their support.”

Eileen Tocher, relationship director at Royal Bank of Scotland, said: “Building on their lengthy experience in this sector, Bob, Sharon and the team at Mainprize have earned an excellent reputation in the offshore and renewables industry for their expertise and dedication to providing first class service for their customers.

“The new additional state-of-the-art vessels will further reinforce that reputation and enable the business to realise its growth ambitions.”
