RSM UK appoints new corporate tax partner in Aberdeen to advise energy sector

RSM UK has appointed Shannon Dowdles as a tax partner in its corporate tax team.
Ms Dowdles is a chartered tax adviser with over 20 years’ experience advising large businesses in the energy sector on domestic and international tax, including the UK Continental Shelf. She is based in RSM’s Aberdeen office and will support clients throughout the UK.
She advises on a vast array of corporate tax issues including entry into the UK, tax provisioning and compliance, optimising tax attributes and incentives, tax implications of structuring and financing, tax governance and engaging with HMRC.
Ms Dowdles began her career as a tax adviser at Deloitte before moving to EY where she progressed through the ranks to partner. She has also worked in industry as a tax director for an international drilling company. She has a first-class honours degree from the University of Aberdeen and is a member of ICAS (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland).
Ms Dowdles said: “It’s great to be joining RSM in Aberdeen at such a key time for the sector and city. I love the fact that my role gives me a window into so many businesses within the energy sector, and it’s a privilege to support them in assessing and implementing their plans.
