Scottish Dental firm Infinityblu invests £600k in acquisition of two new practices

Infinityblu Dental Care and Implant Clinic, a Perthshire-based dental group founded by Chris Barrowman, has invested £600,000 to acquire two new practices.

The recent acquisitions in Auchtermuchty and Galashiels increase the group’s portfolio to 11 practices nationwide. The firm has also shown interest in establishing a presence in urban Scotland for the first time.

Founded in Pitlochry in 2007, Infinityblu has followed a growth model based on organic development, reinvestment of profits, and financial lending. Over the past 16 years, it has invested over £10 million in the business, eschewing corporate expansion via venture capital.

The £400,000 acquisition of the Galashiels practice strengthens Infinityblu’s presence south of Edinburgh.

Mr Barrowman said: “With practices already in Peebles and Duns, Galashiels is a fantastic addition. It means less patient travel and more in-house services on peoples’ doorsteps.

“Our Galashiels practice is going to be a dental hub for Infinityblu, with the intention to grow our dental implant, oral surgeries and orthodontic services and introduce IV sedation services for nervous patients.”

The move to Auchtermuchty represents the group’s first practice in Fife and comes as a result of an approach by the local health board, with the doors of the existing practice having been shut for some time.

Mr Barrowman added: “The Auchtermuchty acquisition has allowed us to open our doors and offer essential services to patients who have been without a dentist for a long time.

“There is a big demand for NHS dentistry in the Fife area. The region is always somewhere I felt was a good location for an Infinityblu practice and to have a foothold opens up many more opportunities.”

The previously shuttered practice, which had suffered staffing issues under its English corporate ownership, is now fully operational with a complete team of dentists, dental nurses, hygienists, and managerial staff. The firm invested £200,000 to resurrect the practice, which now provides residents with local access to dental services, eliminating the need to travel long distances.

The new acquisitions add approximately 10,000 patients to Infinityblu’s roster, now boasting over 55,000 registered patients across its 11 sites in Duns, Peebles, Pitlochry, Dunkeld, Crieff, Alyth, Auchterarder, Callander, Killin, Auchtermuchty, and Galashiels.

Infinityblu’s future plans include continued growth and development, with a location in Perth currently under assessment.
