Aberdeen Adviser CEO Noel Butwell to step down
After more than twenty years with the business, Aberdeen Adviser CEO Noel Butwell has taken the decision to step down from his role and will be leaving Aberdeen in the coming months.
Noel first joined the business in 2003, fulfilling a variety of roles before becoming CEO of Adviser when it was established as a separate business unit in 2019.
Commenting on his decision, Mr Butwell said: “I was involved when we first launched our Wrap platform twenty years ago. Building and growing to a market-leading position was incredibly exciting.
“Over that time, consumer needs and expectations have evolved rapidly, the IFA market is consolidating, and we continue to experience a profound shift in technology as it plays an ever-bigger part in what we do.
“Having spent more than two decades helping the business grow and adapt for the next generation, I have decided now is the right time for me to move on.”
Mr Butwell continued: “In the last couple of years, I am proud of the major strides we have made to ensure Aberdeen Adviser thrives in the years to come. From completion of the largest technology upgrade since Wrap launched, to the launch of the Aberdeen SIPP, I am pleased to see those actions now bearing fruit, with clear progress in turning around flows, improving service and giving our clients some of the best tools in the market.
“I would like to thank my senior leadership team and all my Aberdeen Adviser colleagues, who I have had the privilege of leading. Whoever comes after me will have an outstanding team supporting them - deeply committed to our clients, and to each other.”
Reflecting on Mr Butwell’s contribution to the business, Aberdeen Group chief executive Jason Windsor added: “With his career at Aberdeen spanning more than twenty years, Noel has been part of the fabric of our business.
“His warmth, leadership, passion for serving our clients, and care and support for his colleagues, are all part of what has been a fantastic contribution.
“Since I started working with Noel, I have seen him and his team overhaul our platform technology, improve service levels, strengthen our proposition and put the business on a more competitive footing.
“That work has been critical – giving us the platform we need to compete and grow. We have a great team in Adviser, and as we look ahead to a new phase for the business, we are well placed to grasp the significant opportunities in front of us.”
The process to appoint a successor as CEO of Aberdeen Adviser is advanced and we will provide an update shortly. Mr Butwell will continue to lead the business, ensuring continuity and a smooth transition until the handover is complete.
