Deloitte to cut nearly 200 audit jobs
Deloitte is planning to reduce its UK audit workforce by nearly 200 positions, marking the latest round of job cuts among the UK’s major accounting firms.
The company has introduced voluntary redundancy packages for certain employees due to unusually low staff turnover within its audit division. When attrition rates are low, fewer positions become available naturally, prompting the firm to adjust staffing levels.
A Deloitte UK spokesperson said: “We have been experiencing low rates of attrition in certain areas of our UK audit and assurance business. As a result, we have taken the decision to offer voluntary redundancy on enhanced terms to some of our people in the impacted areas. We do not take these decisions lightly and will do everything we can to provide support to those who are considering this option.”
It has been reported that up to 175 auditors, including managers and assistant managers could be affected. This represents less than 3% of Deloitte’s audit and assurance workforce and under 1% of its total UK headcount, CityAM reports.
