The Merchants House of Glasgow has appointed Craig Vickery, former head of ACCA Scotland as its new chief executive officer and collector.

The charity, based in a historic building on George Square is a membership organisation which also operates as a not-for-profit venue. Its aim is to improve the lives of the most vulnerable people across Glasgow and the West of Scotland by providing grant funding to smaller charities. In the last three years, over £650k has been donated to local causes.

Mr Vickery said: “I am delighted to take on this new role as it perfectly marries my drive to make a positive difference in people’s lives with my 20+ years in the finance profession and background in leading a membership organisation. Corporate social responsibility is needed now more than ever and when we work together, we can help make a big difference in the lives of local people in need.”

The Lord Dean of Guild, May Storrie, added: “Craig brings extensive experience and shares the same values as our organisation. He is the ideal person to take the reins and continue to move the House forward as we continue to grow our membership and welcome new Directors / Trustees.”
