Macdonald Henderson has appointed Michael Strain as a solicitor in the firm’s dispute resolution team.

Mr Strain is an experienced litigator, regularly advising clients on a broad variety of commercial and personal disputes, including debt recovery, contractual disputes, intellectual property claims and professional negligence.

He acts for a range of clients, from individuals and small owner managed businesses to larger companies. He also has a masters degree in intellectual property and the digital economy.

While he is an experienced court lawyer, regularly acting on behalf of clients in respect of proceedings in the sheriff courts and the Court of Session, he also has considerable experience in negotiation and alternative dispute resolution, providing tailored and cost-effective solutions for clients where court action may not be necessary.

Michael Hankinson, director and head of dispute resolution at Macdonald Henderson said: “I am delighted that Michael has joined our firm. He is a keen, sharp and practical lawyer and shares my goal of providing solutions for our clients, building on the success to date of the dispute resolution arm of the firm and driving it further forward”.

He added: “Michael is joining the firm at a generally exciting time. Macdonald Henderson has enjoyed a stellar year in what have been its core practice areas of corporate (M&A/dealmaking), commercial property, dispute resolution and residential conveyancing.

“We’ve also seen outstanding growth in our newly launched (in Autumn 2021) private client team (wills & executries). The busy activity within the firm has seen a string of new starts join the firm and we are enjoying the additional positive energy brought by those new personalities and of being back in the office together.

“More widely, the Scottish economy continues to perform with confidence notwithstanding the many headwinds facing it, and we are delighted to note the continued ambition, success and activity in our firm’s valued client base, both business and personal.”

Mr Strain said: ”I am delighted to be joining Macdonald Henderson at such an exciting time for the firm and look forward to being part of the firm’s ongoing success story as part of its highly regarded dispute resolution team.”
