BDO LLP has announced a new regional managing partner for Scotland.
Audit partner Mark McCluskey takes over the role and will oversee the 200-strong team in Edinburgh and Glasgow across four core business areas – audit, tax, deals and consulting, risk & outsourcing (CRO).
Mr McCluskey takes over from Martin Gill, who has led offices across Scotland for 20 years and grown the business to more than 200 people. Mr Gill will be retiring from BDO in Spring 2026.
Having been with BDO for 25 years, Mr McCluskey has built a strong reputation across the Scottish market supporting success for clients ranging from mid-sized businesses, listed entities and private equity-backed firms. With a particular interest in food & drink and manufacturing, Mr McCluskey has extensive experience of BDO having worked in various departments and locations in the UK and internationally.
In his new role, Mr McCluskey will be responsible for leading the teams and spearheading the future strategy and vision for BDO in Scotland.
He said: “I’m looking forward to getting stuck into this new role and leading the next chapter for BDO in Scotland.
“Under Martin’s leadership, we have built a market-leading and multi-disciplined team that continues to go from strength-to-strength and I’d like to thank him for everything he has done.
“As a local and global adviser, we have the scale to assemble the best group of subject matter and sector experts from our national and international network while maintaining the abilty to be agile, innovative and understand the markets in which our clients operate.”
BDO continues to invest in the Scottish market and has signed a 10-year lease at 30 Semple Street in Edinburgh. This follows investment in 2022 when BDO committed to a 10-year lease of more than 8,000 sq ft at 2 Atlantic Square in Glasgow. Last month, the firm BDO welcomed 33 new trainees across its Scotland, demonstrating BDO’s continued investment into early career pathways and job creation.
Mr McCluskey added: “Following another successful year in Scotland, we’re committed to responsible and sustainable growth, investing significantly in our people to help deliver the highest quality advice. Our ambition is to cement that position and continue to build a practice that places our clients’ and team’s success at the centre of everything we do.”
Mr Gill said: “We have a fantastic team in Scotland and Mark is the ideal appointment to continue to develop this further. I am confident he will lead the team superbly and I wish him every success in the new role.”
